  1. Paper Length and Organization: The manuscript (contained as one Microsoft Word electronic file) should be double spaced and must not exceed 20 pages in total. The manuscript should begin with a title page listing the manuscript title, author(s) and author(s) affiliation and contact information including postal and email addresses, phone and facsimile numbers. The second page of the manuscript should identify the title of the manuscript, contain a 200 word abstract and identify five key words. A sample title page and a sample abstract page are provided at the end of this document. This page should not provide any identification pertaining to the author(s). The subsequent manuscript sections should be the main body, acknowledgments, references and appendices.
  2. Page Geometry: The dimensions for the title page, abstract page and the manuscript pages exclusive of the first page of the main body are 1" (or 25 mm) for bottom, left side and right side margins. The top margin for the first page of the main body is 4" (or 100 mm) and 1.2" (or 30 mm) for all other pages of the manuscript submission.
  3. Text font: The text font must be 12 point, "Times New Roman" type. Greek letters appearing in equations or text should also be 12 point and set in the standard "Symbol" type font. The vertical line spacing should be 12 points (standard single space, 6 lines per inch). There should be two places between the period (or other ending punctuation) of the sentence and the capital letter which starts the next sentence.
  4. Justification: The text should be full justified. Hyphenation should be used to break the text
  5. Paragraphs: Paragraphs are to be separated from each other by a blank line. All paragraphs are to be tab indented to 0.25" (or 6 mm). The use of a number of spaces to indent is discouraged since there are minor differences in the size of spaces printed by various laser printers.
  6. Headings: Headings and subheadings should appear throughout the paper to divide the subject matter into logical parts and to emphasize the major elements and consideration. Headings should be centered on the line in which they appear, be in bold font and each letter capitalized. Headings should not appear at the bottom of a page if there is no text following below. Two blank lines should be left above and one blank line below the major heading.
  7. Subheadings: Subheadings should be printed in bold capital letters and aligned flush with the left-hand margin of the column.
  8. Sub-Subheadings: Sub-Subheadings should be tab indented to 0.25" (or 6 mm) and printed in underlined letters of each word capitalized. The sub-subheadings should be followed by a period, two spaces and the text.
  9. Abstract: The paper should begin with an abstract not exceeding 200 words in length.
  10. Mathematics: Equations should be numbered consecutively beginning with (1) to the end of the paper, including any appendices. The number should be enclosed in parentheses and set flush right in the column on the same line as the first line of the equation. This is the number that should be used when referring to equations within the text. Equations should be printed using the equation setting facilities of Microsoft Word or using any of the popular equation-setting software utilities. Vector quantities should be printed in bold lower case letters and tensor quantities in bold upper case letters. In all mathematical expressions and analyses, any symbols (and the units in which they are used) not previously defined, should be explained. An extra line of space is to be left above and below a displayed equation or formula.
  11. Graphic Material: All figures (graphs, line drawings, photographs, etc.) should be numbered consecutively and have a caption consisting of the figure number and a brief title. This number should be used when referring to the figure in the text.
  12. Tables: Table captions are placed above the table. Leave two blank lines between each table and the text that follows the table.
  13. References: References should be collected at the end of the paper in numerical order. In the text a reference is shown by the author's name, followed by a number in square brackets on the same line. References should cite: author, title, publication and/or publisher volume and number, date and page number in that order.
  14. Footnotes: Footnotes should not be used.
  15. Acknowledgements: Acknowledgements and information on grants received can be provided in the Acknowledgements Section located after the main body of the text and prior to the References.
  16. Style Consistency: Please be consistent in the use of punctuation, figures, capital letters and abbreviations.
  17. Page Numbers: Page numbers should not be printed on the manuscript.
  18. Gender Neutral Language: Gender neutral language should be used.
  19. Manuscript Submission: Manuscripts submitted for editorial review must be sent as an email attachment with a cover letter, also as an email attachment. The cover letter must state that the manuscript has not been published elsewhere, accepted for publication elsewhere, or under editorial review for publication elsewhere; and that the institution's IAMU representative is aware of the submission. The documents should be sent, via email, to:
