AUMSA was founded on the coast of Black Sea in 1975 as Novorossiysk High Engineer Maritime College. It was renamed as Admiral Ushakov Maritime State Academy in 2005. AUMSA is a high level of training marine specialists, it's a wide possibilities for comprehensive development of the youth, good professional perspectives. The diplomas of State sample and certificates of AUMSA meet the requirements of International Conventions and all countries of the world recognize them.
The European Council and International Maritime Organization accredited the Academy on marine specialities. In 2002 the Ancademy has got a high appreciation of a special committee of Euro Union.

AUMSA offers an extensive post-graduate education. Educational activity in the sphere of vocational training is realized on the following speciaities:
AUMSA is the biggest educational establishment of water transport and the only one of higher educational institutions at the South of Russia that prepares marine specialists for navigable companies, shipbuilding and ship-repair industries, for water transport enterprises, ports and transport terminals.
AUMSA has a great scientific potential. The staff of the academy includes 23 doctors and professors, 8 academicians, 123 assistant professors and candidates of science. The teaching - laboratory base of AUMSA consists of 7 lecture - halls (250-270 seats), more than 500 laboratories and classrooms with modern equipment and training complexes, 20 computerized rooms.
An active work continues Southern Regional Center of Additional Vocational Training that was established on the base of AUMSA. It realizes maritime trainings implementing IMO Conventions, maritime security and shipping management.
AUMSA continues to develop and refine its teaching, research and consultancy activities. In September 2004, AUMSA created Foreign Affairs Department. Its main purpose is the developing relationships with foreign Colleagues for the experience changing.
The crewing division of FAD department will allow to organize practice for students and will help to further provision of employment the most capable of working, gifted students and those who desire for self-realization in received profession.
