Overview:

The Odesa National Maritime Academy (ONMA) is the leading higher educational center in the country, which trains officers in all maritime specialties for sea-going, river and fishing fleet.
ONMA was established in 1944.ONMA is well-known for a long time in the world of marine shipping thanks to its 45 000 highly qualified specialists, its graduates, who work in shipping companies all over the world.
Nowadays the ONMA is the leading scientific and methodological center, which defines philosophy, objectives and ways of improving maritime education in Ukraine and in the world.
About 8, 000 cadets study at ONMA. The annual graduation is about 1, 000 specialists. Nowadays over 150 foreign students from 25 countries are studying at ONMA.
The ONMA was accredited by the State Board of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with accreditation level IV (high).
The studies are carried out to the graded system. The terms of studies are the following: four years for Bachelor degree and additional one and a half for Specialist and Master of Science degree.
The system of on board training is in compliance with the requirements of the International Convention of Training and Certifying of Seafarers and Watchkeeping.
